Resistance Hubs
On April 27, more than 100 leaders from communities on the frontlines of environmental and climate crises convened to strategize about building Resistance Hubs. During this half-day forum, the participants mapped their diverse resistance work – from anti-gentrification to food sovereignty, jobs to environment, youth to anti-militarism, and immigrants’ and Indigenous peoples’ rights – and, through roundtable dialogue, advanced cross-movement strategy discussions.
That same day we held a People’s Congress with over 250 people from our delegation alongside locals from the DC metropolitan area to put forth Just Transition solutions that move us away from an extractive economy and political system that is destructive. In its place people put forth solutions for expanded sanctuaries that are informed by people-led budgets and community controlled energy, housing, food, land, and water that are regenerative and value life. Our organizing team is consulting our collective membership in regions across the country, preparing to roll out Resistance Hubs over the next year.
